The Edinburg Roadrunners handed the Shreveport Sports their fifth consecutive loss 7-5 in 10 innings Tuesday night at Fair Grounds Field. It's the longest losing streak of the season for the Sports.
The Sports had rallied to tie the game on a RBI single by Tony Schifano in the seventh inning and the game was tied at 4-4 going into the 10th.
Edinburg's Anthony Angel doubled with one out to drive home two runs and Pat O'Sullivan drove in the third run in the tenth inning with a sacrifice fly.
The Sports tried a comeback in the bottom of the tenth when Derek Henderson connected on a two-out solo home run. Jorge Alvarez doubled, but Keto Anderson fouled out to end the game.
Joe Goodman, in relief, picked up the win while Carl Makowsky in relief took the loss for Shreveport.
Shreveport and Edinburg will meet Wednesday night at 7:05 in the second game of the three-game series at Fair Grounds Field.
