Eclipse Press Release

PHOENIX, AZ - The Phoenix Eclipse of the American Basketball Association have announced the signing of six players, including former University of Arizona guard Khalid Reeves and former Phoenix Sun Horacio Llamas.

The team also announced an open tryout camp, scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Saturday, December 1 at Scottsdale Community College.

Llamas and former first-round NBA draft pick Reeves joined forwards Jamel Thomas and Mark Davis and centers Will Cunningham and David Crouse as players coming to training camp with the Eclipse. Their signings bring the number of players signed by the team to 11. The six new players join the Eclipse along with previously-signed Michael Wright, Tito Maddox, Paul McPherson Richie Frahm and Lazarus Sims.

Reeves, 6'3", 210, joins the Eclipse after a 5-year career in the NBA, where he averaged 7.8 points with five teams. He joined the Miami Heat following the 1993-94 NCAA season, and was named to the U of A Hall of Fame in September.

Thomas, a 6'6", 215 pound forward, played college basketball at Providence and played the 2000-2001 season with the New Jersey Nets, averaging 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. Thomas is a cousin of NBA star Stephon Marbury.

Davis, a 6'7", 210 pound forward, played college basketball at Texas Tech and was a second-round draft choice of the Minnesota Timberwolves following the 1994-95 NCAA season. He played last season with the Toronto Raptors, and averaged 5.5 points a game and 3.1 rebounds a game in a 230-game NBA career.

Cunningham, a 7' center, played college basketball at Temple and was released by the Indiana Pacers in October.

Llamas, 7'1", and Crouse, 7', played as centers on the Mexican Olympic Team, with Crouse starting for the team in this summer's Tournament of the Americas. Crouse played college basketball at USC, and Llamas played professionally with the Phoenix Suns from 1996 to 1999.

A number of the players the Eclipse are inviting to camp had experience in the NBA-sanctioned summer leagues this year.

Cunningham and McPherson participated in the Shaw Summer League, as McPherson averaged 19 points per game with the Dallas Mavericks' entry and Cunningham played with the Indiana Pacers' team.

Thomas averaged 11.7 points and was third in the league in assists with 4.0 in the Detroit Pistons' entry in the Orlando Summer League, and Reeves played in the Nike Run Summer League.
