
ECHL Teams Donate Over $3.6 Million to Charity

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Thursday that its member teams donated more than $3.6 million to charitable and non-profit organizations during the 2010-11 season, including over $1 million in monetary contributions.
The Premier âAA' Hockey League and its teams have contributed over $16 million to charity in the last five years and more than $20 million in the last six seasons.
"We are proud of the significant community involvement of all member organizations across the continent, particularly in the area of cancer awareness and youth sports," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "Our teams continue to make significant contributions to the quality of life in all of our markets through their involvement in worthwhile, community-based organizations."
The financial contributions are in addition to the thousands of appearances by players, coaches, team personnel and mascots at schools, hospitals, libraries and charity functions throughout the year.
The total includes over $300,000 for cancer awareness and prevention raising the total raised through "Pink" and similar events the last five seasons to more than $1.8 million.
