ECHL Teams Donate over $3.6 Million to Charity During 2017-18 Season

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced on Tuesday that its member teams donated more than $3.6 million to charitable and non-profit organizations during the 2017-18 season.

The Premier "AA' Hockey League and its teams have contributed over $30 million to charity in the last seven years and more than $49 million in the last 13 seasons.

"Once again this season, the ECHL's 27 teams made a significant impact in their market," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "These efforts are driven by our commitment to the "Declaration of Principles.' In short, we believe in our ability to improve lives and strengthen communities globally through hockey. We believe that living by these Principles will provide a healthy, balanced and enjoyable experience for all and inspire impactful service beyond the rink."

The financial contributions are in addition to the thousands of appearances by players, coaches, team personnel and mascots at schools, hospitals, libraries and charity functions throughout the year.

The total includes over $228,000 for cancer awareness and prevention raising the total raised through "Pink in the Rink" and similar events the last 11 seasons to more than $3.6 million.
