ECHL Teams Donate over $3.3 Million to Charity in 2012-13

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that its member teams donated more than $3.3 million to charitable and non-profit organizations during the 2012-13 season.

The Premier "˜AA' Hockey League and its teams have contributed over $22 million to charity in the last seven years and more than $27 million in the last eight seasons.

"We are proud of the significant community involvement of all member organizations across the country, particularly in the area of cancer awareness and youth sports," said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. "Our teams continue to make significant contributions to the quality of life in all of our markets through their involvement in worthwhile, community-based organizations."

The financial contributions are in addition to the thousands of appearances by players, coaches, team personnel and mascots at schools, hospitals, libraries and charity functions throughout the year.

The total includes nearly $290,000 for cancer awareness and prevention raising the total raised through "Pink" and similar events the last seven seasons to more than $2.3 million.
