Chillicothe Paints News Release

The Terre Haute Rex (30-17) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Chillicothe Paints (20-27), recording an 8-1 victory on Friday at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stad. The game was decided quickly as the Terre Haute Rex exerted their will early with six runs in the first three innings. A sacrifice fly by David Martinez, an RBI single by Chris Ayers, and a wild pitch during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Terre Haute Rex. Martinez racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Terre Haute Rex. The Terre Haute Rex relied on Jeffrey Barton to eat up innings en route to the win. Barton allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out six over eight innings of work. Derek Moore ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He allowed six runs in three innings, walked none and struck out one.
