Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX (12/11/08) - Despite the rumors surrounding the Arena Football League, the Amarillo Dusters of the af2 will play in 2009, the team announced Thursday.
The Dusters, who play in the arenafootball2 league, will not be affected by any decision made by the AFL to play or not to play in 2009. The first game of the team's upcoming season will be March 27th at the Amarillo Civic Center.
"Our team, along with the rest of af2, will play in 2009," said Dusters Vice President Joe Morgado. "The only possible impact to the Dusters would be the availability of highly skilled players from the AFL."
"The two leagues are separate entities and don't rely on one another," continued Dusters Majority Owner Randy Sanders. "As for us, and our league, we're continuing to get ready for the upcoming season."
The Dusters' entire 2009 schedule is available for viewing on the team's new and improved website, www.dustersfootball.com.
THE AMARILLO DUSTERS are a member of the 25-team arenafootball2 league, and part of the Arena Football family. The team front office is now located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo. Season ticket packages for 2009 are available by calling (806) 350-PASS (7277), and start at just $96 a seat.
