Amarillo Venom News Release

AMARILLO, TEXAS The Amarillo Dusters announced that they are partnering with the High Plains Food Bank to organize a Dusters Canned Food Drive. The Food Drive begins now and will continue through May 3.

"We are very excited and honored to partner with the Amarillo Dusters for this game to raise food for the Food Bank," said High Plains Food Bank public relations director, Zack Wilson. "It couldn't come at a better time."

Anyone that brings canned goods to donate to the High Plains Food Bank will receive a coupon for a reduced ticket price for the Dusters game on Saturday, May 3 against the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz.

The Dusters Box Office will serve as a collection point for canned goods. Two canned goods will equal $5 off one end zone ticket. Four canned goods will equal $8 off one corner ticket. Six canned goods will equal $14 off a sideline ticket.

Wilson expressed that this is one of the times that food donations tend to drop; however, need arises because of kids getting out of school and no longer having breakfast and lunch at school.

"It's important to help out in the community anytime we can," said Dusters vice president, Joe Morgado. "Being able to provide this opportunity when it is so needed is great for both the High Plains Food Bank and the Dusters."

High Plains Food Bank will have a truck at the May 3 game to collect more canned goods.

Businesses will have an opportunity to get involved by becoming collection points as well. Businesses that purchase group tickets for the May 3 game can be a collection point for canned goods. That business will then be able to give tickets to employees or customers who bring in canned goods for the Food Bank.

"This is a win-win for businesses," Morgado said. "They have the opportunity to do a community service project as well as provide a fun group outing for employees and valued customers."

The High Plains Food Bank provides food to people in all 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle.

The Dusters Box Office is located at 817 S. Polk Street in the Paramount Building next to Randy's. For more information on how you can get involved, contact the Amarillo Dusters at (806) 350-7277.
