Dusan, Onley Take League Awards

Shreveport first baseman Joe Dusan and Fort Worth right-hander Shawn Onley were chosen Monday the Daktronics Central League Players of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Aug. 3.

Dusan, who turned 26 on July 30, went 11-for-23 (.478) with five runs, three doubles, one homer, five RBIs, a .739 slugging percentage and a .517 on-base percentage in four games at Amarillo and three at Alexandria.

Dusan, who played for Alexandria last year in the Central League, started his professional career in 1998 with San Diego after being selected in the 12th round. He played one year and a half with the Padres and was sold to Toronto where he played two and a half seasons through 2001.

Onley, 28, pitched a five-hit shutout at Springfield/Ozark on July 30. He struck out five and walked two and is now 3-1 against the Mountain Ducks this year.

A former sixth-round choice out of Rice University in 1996, Onley pitched three seasons in the Atlanta organization, three with independent Winnipeg of the Northern League and last season he went 5-10 with a 4.88 earned run average with Fort Worth.
