
Dukes and Whittaker head to UFL

TAMPA BAY - Tampa Bay Storm linebacker Cliff Dukes and wide receiver Huey Whittaker will report to the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League Sunday, July 9. Dukes and Whittaker will remain on the Storm roster with the status of other league exempt.
"You never want to lose players of their caliber," said vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. "However we are excited for Cliff and Huey to get another opportunity to further display their skills. Additionally this provides other players the opportunity step up and display their skills"
Dukes (6-foot-3, 280 lbs., Michigan State) is in his third season with the Storm. He currently leads the AFL with 16 tackles for a loss and 12.5 sacks.
"I love these guys," said Dukes. "I am going to miss finishing out the season with my brothers, but I am excited to head to camp with the Destroyers."
Whittaker (6-5, 225, South Florida) went to the UFL championship game last season with the Florida Tuskers. He leads the Storm with 125 receptions, 1,405 yards and is second on the team with 28 receiving touchdowns.
"This is an opportunity to play more football," said Whitaker. "I am proud of the guys on the team and know they will continue to play hard."
Training camp for the upcoming UFL season begins Sunday, July 10th. Dukes and Whittaker will depart Tulsa, OK Sunday morning and fly out to Norfolk, Virginia to report for camp.
