The Dreamcatcher Foundation is a registered Charitable Foundation with objectives and a mission to address situations unique to the First Nations communities. The Foundation provides support through grants to individuals with a goal of developing youth as future community leaders. The Foundation also provides grants to community projects that have a lasting positive impact on their members.
With over 70% of our applications pertaining to the sport sector, we realize how important it is to be engaged in physical activity. The Dreamcatcher Foundation is proud to announce that on July 20th, we will be sponsoring a Hamilton Nationals Lacrosse Game at 7:30 pm at the Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario. Lacrosse is one of the most popular sports on the Six Nations Reserve.
"From the day you are born you have a lacrosse stick in your hand, that's just the natural way of life growing up on the Six Nations Reservation" says Josh Powless, Director of Development, Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation. "Your lacrosse team becomes part of your family. It's not just the fastest game on two feet, it's our game."
Each year the Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation hosts events to celebrate the successes and growth of the Foundation and to acknowledge Aboriginals who are striving to make their communities a better place. Some of the events include: an annual Golf Tournament, a hockey tournament, a lacrosse festival, sponsoring Little NHL, our Walk for Education and our annual Gala which will be held at the Hamilton Convention Centre in Hamilton Ontario on October 24th.
"By funding the sports sector, we are engaging our community in physical activity and becoming a part of a team and learning true values in life," says Sara Awdish, Executive Director, Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation. "We are happy and proud to sponsor the 2013 Hamilton Nationals Lacrosse Games."
The Dreamcatcher Charitable Foundation is a nationally recognized philanthropic organization. Since 2004, the Foundation has continued to provide life-changing opportunities to Aboriginal People through the provision of financial grants. It has granted thousands of dollars to those in need across North America. In a short period of time, it has made a huge impact in the lives of its applicants and in turn their communities. Today, it is one of Canada's leading charitable Aboriginal Foundations dedicated to providing talented, passionate and energetic youth and individuals the support they need today, to become tomorrows community leaders. The Dreamcatcher Foundation has given away nearly 6,000 grants. The Foundation has given away more than 10 million dollars nationally to Aboriginal communities and individuals in need.
