Draisaitl Named to German World Championship Team

Prince Albert SK- Prince Albert Raiders' centre Leon Draisaitl will be representing his home country of Germany 2014 IIHF World Championships in Minsk, Belarus.
A native of Cologne, Draisaitl led the Raiders this season in goals, assists and points, with 38, 67 and 105, respectively. The 6'2" centre finished second in powerplay goals, with 12, and in plus/minus, with a plus-7 rating. His Eastern Conference All-Star season saw him finish third in the WHL in assists and in a tie for fourth in points.
Draisaitl follows in the footsteps of his father, Peter, who played in seven World Championships for Germany, totalling 19 points in 49 games. The Raiders' forward also represented his country at the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships in Malmo, Sweden earlier this year.
Draisaitl is the youngest player currently listed on a roster for the tournament, and joins Martin Reway (Slovakia), Joachim Ramoser (Italy) and Nathan Mackinnon (Canada) as the only 18-year-old's in the event.
The Germans will play in Group B along with Finland, Russia, the United States, Switzerland, Latvia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. They open up the tournament against Kazakhstan on Saturday.
