
Diggs' triple-double leads Slam past Chinooks, 120-110

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Ryan Diggs notched his first career triple-double as the Bellingham Slam defeated the Portland Chinooks, 120-110, in a dunk-filled International Basketball League game on Friday at Whatcom Pavilion.
Diggs achieved his triple-double with 25 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds. Diggs helped the Slam storm out to a 26-13 lead with eight points and four assists in the game's first nine minutes.
Jacob Stevenson and Lukas Henne joined Diggs with 25 points apiece to share game-high scoring honors.
Bellingham used a strong second quarter to build a 65-43 lead at halftime before Portland came out in the second half showing more enthusiasm. But the Slam were able to match Portland basket for basket in the third quarter, and led 91-73 going into the fourth.
Portland, which increased its output each quarter, scored 37 points in the fourth quarter, including the games final five points, to account for the Slam's 10-point margin of victory.
Stevenson complimented his 25 point game with a career-high 15 rebounds.
Larry Smith led five Portland players in double figures with 22 points. Devin Smith contributed a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
The Slam conclude their three game homestand with a game against the division-leading Vancouver Volcanoes on April 19. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
