Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League (AFL) announced today that they will hang up their shoulder pads and don aprons for the first-ever "Tip-a-Fury" program hosted by Gameworks at Great Lakes Crossing.

Tip-a-Fury will take place on Thursday, April 8 from 6:00-8:00 pm, and Fury players will work alongside the Gameworks staff, collecting tips that they will donate to the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM).

"I cannot wait to get out there," said Fury captain Ron Carpenter. "We have all had injuries throughout our careers as professional athletes, and we are excited we can help raise money for those who need the help. This will be a great way for us to get out and let our fans see us in a totally new way."

The event is free and open to all, and Frenzy, the Fury mascot, will also be in attendance.

"Gameworks is thrilled to partner with the Fury for such a worth-while cause," said Gameworks General Manager Paul Spada. "It not only allows us the chance to work with the Fury players, but most importantly, it allows us to give back to the people in our community."

RIM specializes in treating spinal cord, orthopedic, sports, and brain injuries, which makes them a natural fit for the Fury. RIM, a member of the Detroit Medical Center, is considered a national leader in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation, and serves as the clinical research and training site for Wayne State University School of Medicine.

The Fury (3-4) return home to The Palace of Auburn Hills for a match up with the Georgia Force on Thursday, April 1 at 7:30. All the action can be heard live on 1130 AM The Fan, and all the other Arena Football action can be seen this Sunday on NBC. Tickets can be purchased by calling (248) 377-0100 or visiting www.detroitfury.com.
