(Pleasanton, CA September 22, 2006) The Golden Baseball League announced today that David Wellenzohn has been named as the President of the Long Beach Armada effective immediately. The fourteen-year professional sports executive joins the Golden Baseball League after taking a year off from baseball to serve as a legislative consultant to the Buffalo, NY Common Council.

Wellenzohn's extensive sports experience includes Manager and Assistant Director of Stadium Operations for the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons during three seasons, Manager of Baseball Operations for the Double-A Wichita Wranglers, and General Manager of the Single-A Jamestown Jammers for five years. In addition, he was Director of Stadium Operations for the both the Florida Marlins and Miami Dolphins at Joe Robbie Stadium for two years and the Baseball Site Manager for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics at Fulton County Stadium for two years. He has also worked as a political consultant, serving two stints with the Buffalo Common Council and also with the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. for three years.

"We're very excited to be able to attract an executive of the caliber of David Wellenzohn," said Dave Kaval, CEO of the Golden Baseball League. "He brings tremendous experience both in operating the business and also in making the stadium a premiere facility for sports entertainment."

Wellenzohn will bring his fan entertainment focus to home games as he has been a leader in the industry in developing family fun promotions and activities in his career. In addition to a family focus, his creativity has led to many innovative promotions such as Bald Guys Night and Senior Citizen Wednesdays. His experience with blended sports/entertainment special events such as the Super Bowl XXIX show and concerts featuring acts such as the Rolling Stones and Billy Joel/Elton John will bring to Long Beach a new level of exciting entertainment at the ballpark.

"It's a thrill to come to such a great city to run a minor league team," said Wellenzohn. "The baseball product is already spectacular with ex-major leaguers Darrell Evans and Jon Warden directing the team on the field. The playing skill is incredible with ex-big leaguers such as Bud Smith, Adam Pettyjohn, Mark Quinn, Al Newman, Jose Canseco and a lot of Triple-A and top minor league experienced players making the game quality higher than I experienced in Double-A and pretty darn close to the Triple-A Buffalo team. Selling ten players to major league organizations in the last year and a half, with four of those kids now in Triple-A is an astonishing accomplishment I am going to focus on the fan experience and do all I can to make a Long Beach Armada game the most fun a family can have on a summer night!"

Current Long Beach General Manager Jared Florin will remain in his position as a key member of Wellenzohn's team. He will have a renewed focus on sales and marketing as the Armada prepare for their third season playing at Blair Field in Long Beach.
