
David Howitt named to ABA Board of Directors

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that David Howitt has been named to the league's Board of Directors. An attorney, investor and entepreneur, Mr. Howitt is the President of The Meriwether Group, a boutique business acceleration and consulting firm with clients including Converse, adidas, K-Swiss, IMG, AND1, North Face, ForesTrade, Rawlings, HO Sports, Living Harvest, HotChalk and Naturally Advanced Technologies.
He is also President of Meriwether Capital Partners, a venture capital fund focusing on investing in disruptive early stage companies. Prior to founding The Meriwether Group and Meriwether Capital Partners, David was the Director of Licensing and Business Development for adidas America. While at adidas, David oversaw and grew a $250 million dollar business unit. David also served for several years as Corporate Counsel for adidas. As Corporate Counsel, he worked closely on all sports marketing deals, negotiations and strategy. David also worked closely with his wife Heather on the founding, growth and the ultimate sale of Oregon Chai was a category leader - growing to sales of over $30 million and selling for $75 million. Prior to joining adidas, David was an attorney in private practice with the law firm of Schwabe, Williamson and Wyatt. He sits on the boards of several public, private and not-for-profit companies.
