David "Doc" O'Connor Joins Premier Lacrosse League Board of Directors
October 28, 2019 - Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) News Release
LOS ANGELES, CA. - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced that highly influential sports and media executive David "Doc" O'Connor has joined the PLL Board of Directors. It was announced today by PLL Co-Founder and CEO Mike Rabil and is effective immediately.
"We couldn't be more thrilled to have Doc O'Connor officially join the PLL Board," says Rabil. "I've known Doc for many years and he is an instrumental and guiding presence for our leadership team on a daily basis. Doc has been a leading voice in the sports and entertainment space for nearly forty years and we will lean in on his wealth of experience as we continue our rapid growth."
Prior to his role on the PLL Board of Directors, O'Connor was the President and CEO of the Madison Square Garden Company (MSG). During his time at MSG, O'Connor successfully spun-off MSG from its predecessor company MSG Networks into a live experience and events company. At MSG, O'Connor oversaw venue expansion in Las Vegas and London, acquired nightlife hospitality company The Tao Group and spearheaded the company's foray into eSports with the acquisition of Counter Logic Gaming. By the time he left the company in late 2017, MSG's stock price and revenue nearly doubled.
Prior to MSG, O'Connor spent more than 30 years at Creative Artists Agency (CAA). After starting his CAA career for thirteen years as an agent in the motion picture department, he served as Managing Partner of the world-wide entertainment and sports agency from 1995-2015. During his tenure, he personally led the growth, expansion and diversification of the agency into sports (CAA Sports, CAA 11), branded content (CAA Marketing), investment banking (Evolution Media Capital), and principal investing (Evolution Fund).
"The Premier Lacrosse League is coming off an incredible debut season that surpassed even my wildest expectations," says O'Connor. "I'm looking forward to working with Paul (Rabil), Mike, and the rest of the talented individuals on our board to propel the league to an even higher level. This is just the beginning."
