
Danish Defender Thomas Juel-Nielsen Signs with Orange County SC

IRVINE, Calif. - Orange County Soccer Club has announced the team has signed 27-year-old Danish center back, Thomas Juel-Nielsen, pending P1, league and federation approval. Juel-Nielsen joins the club having made over 192 career appearances at the highest level in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
The defender was also a regular for the Danish youth national team recording 7 caps and scoring 2 goals for the U17 national team. Head Coach Braeden Cloutier is looking for Juel-Nielsen to make a big impact for the upcoming season.
"Thomas is another example of the quality player that we have worked hard to profile to represent our club. He has played at a high level in Europe and will bring an immense amount of experience & intelligence to our back line," said Cloutier. "He is a very athletic defender with the speed and pace to deal with the type of forwards we face in the USL & also the ability to dominate in the air. More importantly Thomas is a fantastic professional that will provide a great example to our younger players with his attitude, commitment and discipline."
Born in Denmark, Juel-Nielsen made his professional debut in August 2009 for Hvidovre IF. He went on to play for AB of the Danish Superliga, from 2010-2013, making 64 appearances and scoring 5 goals for the club. In 2015, following his time at AB, Juel-Neilsen joined Norway's first tier Sandefjord Fotball of the Eliteserien league, making 20 appearances. He went on to play in the highest level in Sweden with Falkenbergs FF in 2016, scoring 4 goals for the club. In 2017, Juel-Nielsen joined Aarhus GF and played a key role in helping the club make the Superliga playoffs.
