Akron RubberDucks News Release
Dean Curley drove in two to lead the Akron RubberDucks past the Altoona Curve 4-2 on Thursday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Turning Point
After the two teams traded runs to make it 3-2 after five, the RubberDucks looked for some insurance in the eighth. Curley lined a one-out double down the third base line to score Bennett Thompson from first to make it 4-2 Akron.
Mound Presence
Braylon Doughty looked solid in his return to the mound on Thursday. The right-hander allowed just two hits over three scoreless innings while striking out one. Dylan DeLucia followed with two runs allowed over three innings of relief. Zane Morehouse struck out two in a scoreless seventh. Carter Rustad tossed two scoreless innings to secure the win.
Duck Tales
Akron got the bats going early. With runners on the corners and two outs in the fourth, Curley lifted a shallow fly ball to center that hit off the glove of the diving Curve centerfielder for an RBI single to put Akorn on top 1-0. Maick Collado followed with a single between third and short to increase the lead to 2-0. After Altoona got a run back in the bottom of the fourth, the RubberDucks answered in the fifth. Jaison Chourio walked and swiped second base before scoring on an Aaron Walton RBI single to make it 3-1 Akron.
