CPIFL Names Week 14 Players of the Week

Lawrence, KS. - Players all over the CPIFL knew the importance of the final week of regular season games as record breaking and near record breaking performances were found throughout the league in Week 14.

Offensive Player of the Week: Johnny Bentley, Sioux City Bandits

Bently helped the Bandits secure the #1 seed in the CPIFL playoffs with a 48-36 victory over the Bloomington Edge in Week 14. Bently scored three touchdowns and broke the CPIFL record for most rushing yards in a game with 193, breaking the previous record by 68 yards. Bently finished the regular season as the leagues leading rusher with 708 yards on 114 carries. The Bandits begin their run to Champions Bowl on Saturday in Sioux City against the Salina Bombers.

Defensive Players of the Week: Willie Horn, Lincoln Haymakers

Matt Moss, Wichita WIld

Horn and the Haymakers ended their season in style with a 45-16 victory over the Kansas Koyotes. Horn tied a league record with 15 tackles in the game. He also added a sack. Horn finished second in tackles in the CPIFL with 92.

Moss will be leading the top ranked Wild defense into the playoffs after a 74-16 victory over Mid-Missouri in Week 14. Moss recorded seven tackles and three sacks in the game. Moss finished the season as the league leader in sacks with 13.5. The Wild led the league allowing only 26.0 points per game. Wichita heads to Omaha for the first round of the playoffs on Saturday.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Lavaughn Macon, Bloomington Edge

Macon again proved to be one of the most explosive players in the CPIFL in Week 14. Macon averaged over 23 yards per kick return in the Edge's loss to Sioux City. Macon returned seven kicks for 163 yards. Macon finished the season with 1,505 all purpose yards which was the third most in the league. His 22.8 yards per return also ranked third in the league.

The CPIFL playoffs kickoff on Saturday as Sioux City hosts Salina and Wichita travels to Omaha. The winners will square-off in Champions Bowl I on Saturday, June 22.
