Have to appreciate being able to get up, find the coffee and just relax without a bunch of bad NIFL news staring at you. Thank you NIFL for allowing me this morning of peace and quiet.
Last night
With 6:40 to go in the 2nd quarter, Tri-Cities led Rapid City 20-18 and appeared to have the game under control, but the Aces picked it up and scored the next five touchdowns before the Fever found the end zone again with 1:16 left in the game. Rapid City 54, Tri-Cities 38. I'm not going to spend much time on this, but I'll just say it appears the Aces are every bit as good as advertised, Once they took control, the dominated on both sides of the ball. Rapid City remains perfect at 8-0 and next week get a visit from division rival, Wyoming. Tri-Cities drops to 5-3 and plays host to 0-8 St Joseph next week.
Tonight
The league's only other unbeaten team, Lakeland travels down to the Miami area to take on the Frenzy. Their 1-4 record may not look as nice as Lakeland's 7-0, but in spite of only one win, they have been improving and this game could end up a surprise. Montgomery beat Beaumont and Palm Beach beat Osceola this weekend. Most would say those were upsets, so maybe it's upset weekend.
Do I need a lawyer?
Seems like some take offense to some things I've said in the Buzz lately. If so, ok, sorry your skin isn't thicker. Sorry you take a simple piece of print and read far more into it than what is actually said. Sorry you feel I'm such a threat to your organization that you have to take time from your busy day to tell the world how wrong I am on a message board. Sorry, sorry sorry. Oh, by the way, I stand by what I have said or more to the point, stand by what my sources have told me. Now I'm going to get on with my day and maybe those who have other things to do should as well.
New league update, of sorts
Since I mentioned a possible three new leagues in a previous article, I have had numerous inquiries as to what I know. I treat all inquiries in confidence, so if you are a potential ownership, existing ownership or just interested, you can email me direct at indoorbowl@yahoo.com and I will share what I know.
Fire watch
We should add every market that potential ownership has applied for in the NIFL for 2007, but we don't have those names. Just a little joke, but hopefully this will be the last season a fire watch is needed for the NIFL.
Parting notes
Time for a change folks, no question about it, but I wonder if anybody capable of making change is listening. And to maybe call out those who have the power to make a difference, to make the changes needed, I wonder, do you have what it takes to make the right decisions or cower as in years past. Blunt I know, politically correct, maybe not, but exactly as I see it.
