Replacements in Katy?
There is no doubt in my mind that the Thunder the Katy Copperheads faced today wasn't the regular Big Sky team, but a bunch of local Texas area players brought in. I'm sure this was a move to save money and nothing else. This only adds to the rumors we've been hearing that Big Sky is in financial trouble, As a result of this we are officially adding Big Sky to our fire map.
Rapid City update
From Sunday's Rapid City Journal,
"It's true that we've had some financial problems, and it's true that I've had some problems with my partners. But we're working it out, and the league is helping me work it out," Neal said in a telephone interview from Arkansas. ... Neal said Saturday that he is spending the week in Arkansas on league business, helping another National Indoor Football League team with its promotions, sales and organization."
We received the above from articles linked on OurSports Central and found it rather interesting. I guess it's more important for Mr. Neal to be in Arkansas on league business rather than in Rapid City taking care of his team's business. We're not saying it's all bs, but every part of the article certainly reads that way, except for the comments by Coach Majic.
If helping Arkansas is more important than helping his own team, maybe we should assume the Stars are in deep trouble also and add them to the map.
Katy downs replacements
This put together team that called themselves the Big Sky Thunder probably put on a better show against the Copperheads than the real deal would have, but in the end, the result was still the same as Katy got their fifth win by a score of 86-14. Big Sky drops to 0-6 on the season and travel to the Tri-Cities Fever next week. Katy improves to 5-3 on the season and next week travels to Arkansas.
The crying game
"Emotional Maulers owner answers critics" I wonder how many of you read today's Montgomery Advertiser on the Maulers situation from the tearful owners point of view. If not, you should check out the latest on this soap opera.
Fans cheated?
If I were a fan that bought a ticket to watch Katy or Osceola this weekend I'm not sure I wouldn't ask for a refund. The games were billed as professional football, but I think when one team is clearly semi pro or not the real opponent, it's no longer a professional game. Yeah, I'm not sure that I wouldn't be getting hold of the Osceola or Katy management asking for my money back. I might consider calling the NIFL offices, since I feel they set these jokes up, but I know I'd get no response going that direction.
Connect the dots
If you want to see where the next NIFL fire breaks out, just read the newspaper articles to see who is connected where and try to read between the lines to see which teams are connected. Those connected to other teams in trouble are smoldering already.
Fire watch
Our fire watch has been updated to include Big Sky. No change in Greensboro and Dayton, although we are down grading the status in Palm Beach In all other areas, fire crews report no idea of containment time. That leaves Montgomery, Arkansas and Rapid City still raging out of control. Heavy thunderstorms are rolling through Arkansas and fire crews have been alerted to be ready to hit hot spots there if a fire is spotted.
Weather forecast
Official NIFL weather report and fire control updates. NIFL fire crews are hard at work trying to contain some of the fires, while they are just letting some burn themselves out. In some areas, local fire crews have been left on their own to battle the blazes. Reports from our watch towers are no new sightings, but the weather forecast includes a 90% chance of thunderstorms over the next eleven weeks. Additional fire crews have been put on alert that their services could be needed at a moments notice and should be prepared to go anywhere in the NIFL forest. As always, we have our own spotters that will be on the front lines covering the disasters as they happen.
