KANSAS CITY (Oct. 29, 2016) - Even with a brace from veteran midfielder Milan Ivanovic, the Kansas City Comets fell 5-3 to the Cedar Rapids Rampage in their Major Arena Soccer League season opener at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The loss ended a two-year home opener winning streak for the Comets.

Ivanovic started the Comets season in style, scoring 46 seconds into the match. Rookie Guerrero Pino, who was signed at the beginning of the week from UMKC, came off the bench to extend the lead with his first professional goal with 5:17 left in the first quarter. John Sosa fired the ball toward the goal and found Pino a few feet out. Pino fired it home.

Newcomers Odaine Sinclair and Carlos Trombini also made appearances.

The shutout stood through the end of the first period and into the beginning of the next before Tony Walls cut the lead. He went on to score the equalizer with 9:28 left in the third quarter as well. The second goal came off an assist from Bobby Hurwitz.

The Rampage added a goal from Gordy Gurson and two from player-coach Hewerton Moreira in the fourth quarter to seal their victory.

Ivanovic scored his second goal of the match with four minutes left. He had five goals last season.
