Clarke Continues Coaching Career with RailHawks

Bayamón, Puerto Rico ( December 6, 2011) - The Puerto Rico Islanders announced today that Colin Clarke's tenure with the club has ended. Clarke has been named the head coach of the Carolina RailHawks. Per league policy details of the transaction are not disclosed.
"We are extremely thankful for everything Colin has done for the Puerto Rico Islanders. He and the rest of the staff were not only instrumental towards the growth of the club, but also towards the growth of soccer in Puerto Rico. He has established a tradition of winning and we are excited to build on that tradition," said Puerto Rico Islanders President Andres Guillemard.
Clarke was hired in 2007 and quickly led the Puerto Rico Islanders to the 2007 USL playoffs. In 2008, Clarke took the Islanders to the semi finals of the CONCACAF Champions League with victories over powerhouses like L.D Alajuelense of Costa Rica, C.D Marathon of Honduras, Santos Laguna and Cruz Azul of Mexico. During the 2010 season, the club defeated the now MLS Champions LA Galaxy in the CONCACAF Champions League. The club also won the 2010 USSF D2 Championship and back-to-back CFU Championships in 2009 and 2010 while under Clarke.
"I want to thank the owners, fans and everyone else inside the Islanders organization. It was a great time in my career and it was a bit sad leaving, but I am very happy leaving a lot of victories in Puerto Rico," said Clarke.
The Islanders have finished negotiations with a new head coach, which will be announced in the next several days.
