Cleveland City Stars News Release
Fresh off last Saturday's 1-1 draw in Harrisburg, the undefeated Cleveland City Stars and the Harrisburg City Islanders will meet again THIS FRIDAY at 7pm at Krenzler Stadium. The two teams are no stranger to playing close matches against each other. In four previous matches the teams have played to an even 1-1-2 record with each team scoring 4 goals a piece.
After last week's match, Stars Midfielder Derek Potteiger was named to the USL-2 Team of the Week. Potteiger, who is from Mechanicsburg, PA and played collegiately at Penn State, is a former member of the Harrisburg City Islanders.
During this Friday's match, the City Stars will also take the opportunity to give their honors to the long and great history of soccer in Northeast Ohio as it is Cleveland Soccer Legends Night at Krenzler Stadium.
During half time, two alumni teams will play a special exhibition game featuring Cleveland greats Otto Orf, Hector Marinaro, Ali Kazemaini, Marcello Carrera, Zoran Karic, Allen Eller and more. In addition, the first fans in the Stadium will receive a free Cleveland Soccer History poster sponsored by HandsOn Soccer and additional noisemakers from Advertising by Design.
For the fans looking to find those missing pieces for their Cleveland Soccer Collection, the Cleveland City Stars Booster Club will kindly provide a special sale throughout the game featuring rare Soccer Memorabilia. A special table for past and present player autographs will also be available shortly following the game.
Friday is also the second of ten City Stars games to be broadcast by SportsTime Ohio. This week's match will directly follow the Cleveland Indians telecast on Friday May 2nd at approximately 10:30pm. Replays will be shown Sunday May 4th at noon and 9pm with additional showings throughout the week.
Following the game, the City Stars and all supporters will party at Alesci´s Restaurant in Downtown Cleveland, the 2008 official post game party location for the Stars and all their fans. This is your chance to party with the team and get to know all players, coaches and staff.
Alesci's Restaurant is located at 828 Huron Road right in the heart of downtown Cleveland just a few blocks away from Progressive Field. This is the first gathering at Alesci's with a lot more to come.
