Cleveland City Stars News Release
The Cleveland City Stars are excited to announce a new television deal with SportsTime Ohio . The new deal will go into effect for the CCS home opener April 19th vs. the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Krenzler Stadium. As part of the new agreement, all ten CCS home games will be broadcast by STO. Each match will air on each game night, with replays on Sundays.
The City Stars are pleased to partner with the regional cable outlet that began broadcasting the Cleveland Indians games in 2006. The station is reached by nearly 5 million homes nationwide and carries over 130 Cleveland Indians broadcasts a year. Indians broadcasts on STO have quickly become one of the highest rated cable programs in Northeast Ohio and the City Stars look to capitalize on the popularity by premiering its matches directly following baseball games throughout the summer.
The two hour broadcast of CCS home games will include play-by-play and color commentary by Desmond Armstrong, 94 World Cup TV commentator and former US national team player, and "The Professor" Glen Duerr, former City Stars player. It will also include a half time segment highlighting the team's weekly inner-city coaching and life-lessons program.
"In two short years SportsTime Ohio has grown to offer the best and most diverse sports programming in our region and we feel that the Cleveland City Stars only adds to that roster," said STO President Jim Liberatore. "The Stars have been around for a little over a year and they have already shown an ability to be successful, both on and off the field. We are proud to team up with such a solid organization and we feel that this partnership will benefit the continued development of both parties."
