The Cleveland City Stars will host one of the biggest events in Cleveland soccer history this Saturday as they face the Charlotte Eagles in the USL-2 Championship Match at Krenzler Stadium starting at 8 p.m. The game will also be broadcast nationally on Fox Soccer Channel. USL-2 National Championship This Saturday Cleveland City Stars vs. Charlotte Eagles The Cleveland City Stars (10-3-7) will host the Charlotte Eagles (13-2-5) in the 2008 USL-2 Championship. The match will take place Saturday August 23rd at 8 p.m. at the Cleveland State University Krenzler Stadium and will be broadcast nationally by Fox Soccer Channel starting at 10 p.m.
Tickets for the championship are on sale now through ClevelandCityStars.com, by calling 330-425-2003 or by visiting selected soccer stores and facilities all around the Cleveland Area. Visit the City Stars website for more information on which stores to visit.
Tickets for the history making Event are $20 for adults, and $15 for youth with special VIP tickets available for $25.
Discounted group rates are available for the championship match. Tickets are $14 for groups of 20-39, $12 for groups of 40-99 and $10 for groups of 100 or more.
Season ticket holders will receive a free VIP ticket upgrade by purchasing a regular game ticket.
As the excitement is building, the City Stars will host a FREE "Train with the Champions" youth soccer clinic prior to the championship match at the team's home field in downtown Cleveland. The clinic for boys and girls ages 5-13 will feature training from City Stars players as well as a ticket and merchandise booth on site. Please register through the Cleveland City Stars website as space is limited.
During the Championship, the team is offering a merchandise special with 20% off ALL 2008 merchandise items. Special Championship gear will also be available. Every person in attendance will also receive free 2008 City Stars Team Shirts at the gate as well as other promotional give-aways.
As the season is coming to a close, each fan will have the opportunity to raffle for the original Game Jersey of #00 GK Eric Reed, #11 Sallieu Bundu, #17 Ryan Stewart, #28 Floyd Franks and the 2008 fans vote for Player of the Year #14 Anthony Stovall.

The City Stars playoff motto has been "It's Our Turn" and the team looks to bring Cleveland its first professional sports championship since the Cleveland Crunch of the NPSL in 1998-99.

The USL-2 today announced the 2008 All-League team. Reigning Defender of the Year Mark Schulte was named to the first team as a defender. Schulte played in 18 games and the captain led a Cleveland defense that gave up only 16 goals on the season.
Midfielder Floyd Franks was named to the first team in his first year with the City Stars. The MLS veteran played in 1322 minutes over 17 games and tallied two goals and an assist.
Sallie Bundu was named to the second team in his first year in Cleveland. The Forward from Seirra Leon finished with eight goals on the season.
The league also announced the finalists for the league's players of the year awards. Schulte was the lone Cleveland representative on the list as he looks to repeat as Defender of the Year when the awards are announced at the league's championship banquet on Friday.
