Cleveland City Stars News Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland City Stars will take on the Montreal Impact in the final home game of the season this Saturday, September 5th at 2 p.m. The City Stars hope to round out the home season with the first positive result against the Impact.

The City Stars currently sit in 11th place in USL First Division league standings and need one win to climb out of last place. After falling 4-1 to Montreal on the road earlier in the season, the City Stars battled for a 2-1 loss at home in August with hopes that the third match-up of the season will show even more improvement.

Midfielder Pato Aguilera has been a standout this season, leading the league in games played (26) and third in the league for assists (5). The veteran has also tallied three goals for Cleveland, tying with Ricardo Pierre-Louis as the City Stars top goal-scorer. Other players have also been making an impact, with midfielder Jason Hotchkin named to the USL-1 Team of the Week for Week 20. Hotchkin scored the City Stars only goal against Montreal in the teams last face-off, and earned an assist in the August 22nd 1-0 victory over Minnesota. Goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap was also named to the team, with three saves in the same match against Minnesota.

The Montreal Impact has essentially secured a playoff spot this season, sitting in 5th place in league standings. The Impact is just one point ahead of the 6th place Vancouver Whitecaps and 7th place Rochester Rhinos. With a 10-10-6 record, Montreal has a 3-0-1 record in the last four games. With a team plus-one goal difference and 28 goals scored this season, leading goal-scorers Roberto Brown and Eduardo Sebrango have made a large contribution, with five and four goals respectively. Forward Rocco Placentino has also been integral to the Impact's success with five assists, tying for 3rd in the league.

Kickoff is at 2 p.m. on Saturday and the match will be broadcast on USLlive.com and SportsTime Ohio. Saturday will also be Fan Appreciation Day, with tons of giveaways and the chance to win amazing prizes such as signed City Stars memorabilia, autographed Cavs gear, gift cards to local restaurants and businesses and much more. The first 225 fans in the stadium will also receive exclusive door prizes.

Tickets are still available by calling 330-425-2003 or online at www.clevelandcitystars.com. All fans who purchase tickets in advance will be automatically entered into the Pre-Purchase Ticket Drawing, with the chance to win free VIP seat upgrades and City Stars memorabilia.
