Cleveland City Stars News Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland City Stars are hoping to find redemption this Saturday, June 27th at 7 p.m. as they take on the Austin Aztex. The Aztex defeated the Stars 3-0 in the second game of the season in May. The City Stars hope to continue an undefeated streak after the 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Tuesday.

The Cleveland City Stars have picked up the pace as the season has progressed, and are holding steady in 10th place in the USL league standings. Despite a developed dominating presence, the City Stars were defeated twice by Miami FC last week, in two close matches that looked to end in City Stars favor. Tuesday's tie with Vancouver leaves the Stars with a 2-9-3 record. Forward Josh Boateng leads the team with three goals, and midfielder Pato Aguilera leads the league in assists with five. Aguilera also scored the game-tying goal on Tuesday with a well-placed penalty kick.

The Austin Aztex sit just two points ahead of the City Stars in 9th place in league standings, with a 2-6-5 record. Leading goal-scorers Yordany Alvarez and Eddie Johnson have each scored three goals, and were both directly involved in the City Stars loss in May. Johnson scored two goals in the match and had one assist, while Alvarez also had tallied an assist. The Aztex have scored one goal more than the City Stars in league play this season, having tallied 12 goals thus far. Despite the inferior goal difference, the City Stars have tied Puerto Rico and beaten Rochester this season, while the Aztex fell to both squads.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m., and the match will be broadcast on SportsTime Ohio 10:30 p.m. and will replay Sunday at 5:00 a.m. and Monday June 29th at 12:00 p.m. The match will also be broadcast on usllive.com.

Saturday is 95.5 The Fish Faith Night with the City Stars, with a special appearance by The Fish personality Mark Rein and a free post-game concert by Praise-apella.

Tickets are available through clevelandcitystars.com or by calling 330-425-2003.

All fans who pre-order tickets will automatically be entered into the Pre-Purchase Prize Contest, with chances to win autographed memorabilia, free concessions and upgraded VIP tickets.
