CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland City Stars fell 3-0 to former coach Martin Rennie and his Carolina RailHawks Friday night at Middlefield Cheese Stadium.

The first place RailHawks (5-2-1), featuring Rennie and five former City Stars, got off to a fast start and controlled the match from start to finish.

In the 18th minute Carolina's Andriy Budnyy leaked behind the Cleveland backline in pursuit of a long ball played over the top from Daniel Paladini. Budnyy beat Hunter Gilstrap to the ball and flipped it in over his head and the ball rolled in for a 1-0 Carolina lead.

Just three minutes later the RailHawks were back on the attack as Paladini played a cross to the corner of the box and John Conliffe gathered and snuck it between the diving Gilstrap and the near post for a 2-0 Carolina lead.

Cleveland (1-4-1) had to play a man down after midfielder Alioune Gueye was sent off with a red card in the 31st minute.

The short handed City Stars went with multiple substitutions but were unable to string together many meaningful chances.

The RailHawks put the final score on the board in the 77th minute when the recently subbed Josheph Kabwe dribbled his way through the Cleveland defense and fired a shot to the far corner for the final 3-0 decision.

The City Stars hit the road next week for a nationally televised Fox Soccer Channel rematch with Carolina on Friday at 8 p.m. and a match with the Charleston Battery Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's match can be viewed live on usllive.com.
