Islanders Host Baltimore in Final Regular Season Home Match
This Friday, August 7th the Islanders will kick-off in their last home match of the regular season against Crystal Palace Baltimore. This will be the third time this season that the two squads have faced off. In their previous encounters thus far both the Islanders and Crystal Place Baltimore have earned one victory: the Islanders defeated Baltimore 3-1 at home in early July only to fall 2-0 on the road one week later. Friday night's match will settle the score between the two teams.
Friday's match will also undoubtedly affect both teams playoff hopes. The Islanders are currently in third place in the USL-2 with a record of 9-6-3 and 30 points. Wilmington and Richmond are both ahead of Harrisburg in the standings each with 35 points. Although the Islanders have secured a spot in the playoffs, the next two games will decide their seed entering the post season. Baltimore currently has a record of 6-8-4 (22 points) and is sixth in the overall standings. Since the top 5 teams are granted a playoff berth, Baltimore knows that they need a win to even be considered for the playoffs.
The match will also feature a jersey auction of the jerseys worn by all of your favorite Islanders! The auction will begin at 6pm and bidding will end at the final whistle. The player's navy Nike jerseys will be auctioned off along with the keeper's sky blue jerseys. Rules will be posted at the auction site--the Surf City Party Zone. The winners will receive their jerseys at the end of the season and payment is due at the end of the auction! Don't miss your chance to own a piece of Islanders history and own the actual jersey of your favorite Islander!
Also on Friday, "You Can Score for the Central PA Food Bank"-bring canned good donations for the Central PA Food Bank and you can be entered to win a 23-inch plasma TV, and other great prizes compliments of Members 1st Federal Credit Union and the Harrisburg City Islanders. The Harrisburg City Islanders and Members 1st Credit Union have teamed up to raise canned goods for the Central PA Food Bank. Just bring a non-perishable, canned good to donate and you will be entered in a raffle to win a 23-inch plasma TV and other awesome prizes all compliments of Members 1st Federal Credit Union and the Harrisburg City Islanders.
