Penn FC News Release
Harrisburg, PA â The Harrisburg City Islanders have announced that their game against the Westchester Flames originally scheduled for Friday, July 23, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, August 11. Kickoff at Skyline Sports Complex will be 7:05 p.m.
Tickets purchased for the July 23 game date will be honored for the August 11 engagement.
The City Islanders, who dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime decision at home against the Western Mass Pioneers on Sunday, will resume their playoff push this Saturday, July 31, against the New Hampshire Phantoms (9-6-1, 28 points) at Southern New Hampshire University. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
With four games left on their regular season schedule, Harrisburg must pass the Long Island Rough Riders (7-8-1, 22 points) in the Atlantic Division standings AND finish over .500 to earn a first-round playoff match up with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (14-2-1, 43 points), who have already clinched the Atlantic Division title.
The Islanders will head north this weekend without midfielder/defender Moffat Oduor and forward Matt Tanzini, the team's leading scorer. Both have received suspensions from the United Soccer Leagues for their actions in the club's loss to Western Mass on Sunday. Oduor will miss this weekend's game, while Tanzini will sit out Harrisburg's next three matches. He will be eligible to return to the lineup for the rescheduled August 11 game.
The Harrisburg City Islanders are playing their inaugural season in the Pro Soccer League (PSL), a division of the United Soccer Leagues (USL).
The club's 20-game regular season (10 home, 10 away) opened on April 17 and will conclude on Saturday, August 14, at home against the Charlotte Eagles. For more information on the City Islanders, call 717-441-GOAL, or visit www.cityislanders.com. For more on the PSL or USL, visit www.uslsoccer.com.
