Cinalli Goal for Athletica Sinks Sky Blue FC on the Road

FENTON, MO. (June 7, 2009) - Amanda Cinalli connected for the only goal of the game as Sky Blue FC fell to Saint Louis Athletica 1-0 on the road at Anheuser Busch Soccer Park. Making her first appearance of the season after injuring her knee in preseason, Cinalli connected in the 15th minute for the game-winning goal.

Sky Blue FC (2-5-2, 8 pts.) had its chances holding a 14-10 advantage in shots but the New Jersey side couldn't convert. Hope Solo notched six saves to earn the shutout for Saint Louis (3-3-2, 11 pts.) while Karen Bardsley stopped three shots for Sky Blue FC.

Sky Blue FC returns to New Jersey next weekend when it hosts Marta and the first-place Los Angeles Sol at 7 p.m. at Rutgers University's Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. (888-SBFC-TIX | www.skybluestore.com)

Cinalli's goal came on the first dangerous chance of the game for Saint Louis. Eniola Aluko send a cross into the box and Cinalli calmly slotted her shot into the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

Solo came up with a big save in the 22nd minute as she touched over a shot from Natasha Kai to keep Sky Blue FC off the board. Bardsley made a big stop of her own to keep the game within reach in the 84th minute when she made a tremendous save on Athletica striker Christie Welsh.
