CIFL releases 2009 schedule

(Canton, OH) - Today the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) released the 2009 schedule, teams, divisional and playoff alignment.  The CIFL is entering their fourth season.Â
The 2009 CIFL will consist of eight teams, from Wisconsin to West Virginia.  The league will be separated into two divisions, the East and the West.  Each division will have four teams.  The divisions are as follows:Â

Fort Wayne FreedomÂ
Marion MayhemÂ
Wheeling WildcatsÂ
Huntington, WV (Press conference in early January)Â
Western DivisionÂ
Chicago SlaughterÂ
Milwaukee BonecrushersÂ
Rock River RaptorsÂ
Wisconsin WolfpackÂ
Following the regular season, the top two teams from each division will play for the division championship and a spot in the CIFL Championship Game.  Dates for the playoffs and championship are TBD.Â
The 2009 season will kickoff on March 6, 2009 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, IL as the Chicago Slaughter will host the Milwaukee Bonecrushers.  Each team will play a 12-game regular season schedule that consists of 7-9 division games to build rivalries among the teams.  These games will have a direct impact on the participants in the playoffs and championship game.Â
The league will have three expansion teams and five returning to make up the eight team roster for the 2009 season.  Expansion teams will be in Madison, WI, Wheeling and Huntington, WV.  The Huntington team name and logo will be revealed at a press conference in early January.Â
