CIFL introduces Kevin J. Keller as new Director of Media Relations
February 9, 2007 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release
The Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) is pleased to announce the hiring of Kevin J. Keller as Director of Media Relations. Keller, 24, assumes the position after the resignation of Josh Stein.
"I'm extremely happy to have this opportunity," said Keller. "The CIFL is the premier indoor professional league in the nation, so to have this chance, is exciting to say the least."
Keller is no stranger to the league or the teams of the CIFL. He served as the Assistant Director of Operations for the Marion Mayhem last year and was promoted to Director of Operations before resigning in December for personal reasons.
"I know this league and I know the teams of this league," continued Keller. "The opportunity I had in Marion last year paved the way for me to take a position like this."
CIFL co-founder Jeff Spitaleri was also pleased with the hiring of Keller.
"He knows this league and I know he can help this league grow," said Spitaleri. "After Josh (Stein) stepped down, we needed someone that was going to be able to help us grow and Kevin can do that."
Stein stepped down on Monday (Feb. 5) to pursue other opportunities related to his schooling.
"Josh helped us a lot last year and we're grateful that he was here in our first year," continued Spitaleri. "We certainly wish him all the luck in the future."
Keller has worked in the print and broadcast media for the last three-plus years after graduating from the Ohio Center for Broadcasting in Valley View, Ohio in 2003.
He has been the lead sports writer for The Press-News for the last three years and served as a play-by-play broadcaster for WCER AM 900 and WNPQ FM 95.9, both in Canton.
Along with Todd Bartley, his predecessor and successor in Marion, he co-founded Pioneer Sports Productions (PSP). In Aug. 2006, PSP launched Starkpreps.com, a website dedicated to coverage of high school athletics in Carroll, Stark and Tuscarawas Counties in Ohio.
Keller, a 2001 graduate of Minerva High School, is single and currently resides in Minerva, Ohio. He is the son of Ron Keller and Bonnie Keller, both of Minerva, and has one brother, Cody.
He's an active member of the Minerva Area Relay for Life and, along with his mother, co-founded The Gage Knight Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research.
