CIF announces newest team for the 2016 Season: The Illiana Eagles

With the 2015 Champions Indoor Football (CIF) playoffs quickly approaching, the league is pleased to announce that it has already begun to embark on expansion for the 2016 season with the addition of the Illiana Eagles in Chicago, Illinois.

"This is something that we have been working towards for many months. While our enthusiasm tempted us to launch for the current 2015 season, we ultimately decided that our long term plans to grow roots for this team in our community would be better served by focusing our efforts on building a strong start for 2016." stated team ownership.

The newest franchise in the CIF will boast the moniker "Illiana" which serves as a tribute to the interest that the team is drawing from both the nearby states of Illinois and Indiana. "Having a team name reflect both states was important to us, as was our patriotism showing through our proud display of an Eagle and the use of our nations red, white, and blue colors" explained Tim Arvanitis, head coach and general manager.

Darlene Jones, CIF League Commissioner had the following comments about the newest member of the CIF: "Brian and his entire organization have been working diligently at building their franchise in a manner that not only makes their future fans, but the league as a whole, very proud of the team that they will have on and off the football field. The city of Chicago has seen its share of professional indoor football teams experience varying levels of success of the years. The business plan that this team has developed and begun to implement will undoubtedly lead to their long term success. We are excited that they are the team to kick off our expansion list for the 2016 season"

The Illiana Eagles are negotiating the details of their lease with the UIC Pavilion located on the University of Chicago, Illinois campus. The pavilion has a capacity of 9,500 fans for an indoor football game, which will make it one of the largest home venues in the CIF.
