
Chico Infielder Is GWL Player of the Week
August 5, 2018 - Great West League (GWL) News Release
Portland, Oregon - The Great West League's Madison Bat Company Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by GWL commissioner Ken Wilson, are Wyatt Branch and Erik Lopez.
Branch, a left-handed hitting infielder out of Dixie State, went 7-16 (.438) for the Chico Heat during the shortened final week of the GWL regular season. A native of Stansbury, Utah, he had one HR and 3 RBIs for the regular season champs. Branch ended the 2018 season batting .328.
Lopez, a right-hander from San Diego, made two strong appearances for the Lincoln Potters. The Avila University product pitched two innings each at Yuba Sutter and Chico, without allowing a run nor a hit, while striking out four and walking four.
