VILLA PARK, Ill. -- The Chicago Riot of the Major Indoor Soccer League defeated local club Costa Guerrero, 10-7, on Sunday in an exhibition match at the Odeum Sports and Expo Center.
The Riot's victory was the first opportunity to see MISL's newest team at the Odeum, and the Riot was up to the task against a tough Costa Guerrero side. Leading the way was Vladimir Knezevic's two goals and goalkeeper Jeff Richey's 12 saves.
The Riot posted a 6-0 lead in the second quarter and maintained a lead throughout the match.
"They're one of the best teams in Chicago and it was a good chance to try some of these rookies that I've got, so we knew it was going to be a battle," Riot head coach Jeff Kraft said. "I give Costa Guerrero credit -- they came out strong, and it was great for the fans to see this."
Next up for the Riot is the team's MISL home opener at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, against the Milwaukee Wave at the Odeum. For tickets and more information, visit www.ChicagoRiotSoccer.com or call 630-708-6284.
