CHICAGO (Nov. 12, 2010) -- The Chicago Riot of the Major Indoor Soccer League is teaming up with Weiss Memorial Hospital orthopedic and sports medicine experts for the 2010-2011 MISL season.

"We are very pleased with our new relationship with the Chicago Riot, said Frank Molinaro, CEO of Weiss. "Their athletes are excellent role models and we look forward to working together with them to get a positive message out about healthy lifestyles and fitness to the kids in our community."

Preston Wolin, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon and the director of sports medicine at Weiss, has served as team physician for the Chicago Red Stars (Women's Professional Soccer) and a host of other professional and college teams. Dr. Wolin and the rest of the orthopedic team at Weiss will extend their patient-centric care to the Riot players.

"Injury prevention and treatment is essential to staying active no matter what level of sports you're involved in," said Preston Wolin, M.D., orthopedic surgeon and director of sports medicine at Weiss. "Teaming up with the Riot also will help us reach out to the community more to promote injury prevention, which is an important component to our care."

Weiss orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians, many whom have affiliations with the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois medical centers, will provide the Riot with medical care to ensure their long-term health and viability on and off the field. The orthopedic unit at Weiss boasts high patient, physician and employee satisfaction scores among the highest in the nation.

Danielle Bass, M.D., will serve as the Riot's team physician. She also is a former soccer player for the University of Florida's 1998 national championship team.

"Weiss Hospital offers the premier sports medicine services in Chicagoland," Riot President and CEO Peter J. Wilt said. "I've been fortunate to work with Dr. Wolin and his group with the Chicago Fire, Red Stars and now the Riot. They have always provided quality care and give our teams a great advantage on the field."

The Riot formed in October 2010 and is preparing for its first season in the MISL. Chicago makes its debut at 6:35 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Baltimore Blast. The Riot's home opener takes place at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 against the Milwaukee Wave at the Odeum Sports and Expos Center in Villa Park, Ill.
