Chicago Riot News Release
MISL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
January 17, 2011
Ante Cop, Chicago Riot
Riot goalkeeper Ante Cop made 22 saves, had an assist and scored the game-winning goal to lead the Chicago Riot to a 14-12 win over the Baltimore Blast on Sunday at the Odeum Sports and Expo Center in Villa Park, Ill. Cop's game-winning three-pointer came with 23 seconds remaining to catapult Chicago toward its first home win of the season. Cop also assisted Bato Radoncic's first goal at the 10:32 mark of the second quarter. Yesterday was Cop's first start in the net this season, in place of Jeff Richey who was out with a hamstring injury. Of Cop's 22 saves, the most important came in the game's final seconds when he turned away a Giuliano Celenza strike as time expired to preserve the Riot win.
