Chicago Riot News Release

CHICAGO (Dec. 23, 2010) -- The Chicago Riot of the Major Indoor Soccer League announces that target forward Anthony Maher will undergo surgery to repair a broken right cheek bone suffered in Sunday's 14-13 win over the Missouri Comets.

Danielle Bass, M.D., of the Chicago Center for Orthopedics at Weiss Memorial Hospital estimates that Maher will be unavailable for the next four to six weeks.

The Riot signed Maher earlier this month and he made his Chicago debut on Dec. 10 against the Omaha Vipers. Maher is in the midst of his 10th season of professional indoor soccer.

Chicago does not have an MISL match over the next two weeks, but the Riot's January schedule includes six games in a 24-day stretch. Next up for the Riot (1-4) is a 7:35 p.m. match on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Missouri (1-5). The Riot's next home game is at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, against Omaha at the Odeum Sports and Expo Center in Villa Park, Ill.
