Chicago Express Ink Defenseman Nathan Lutz

Hoffman Estates, IL- The Chicago Express, proud member of the ECHL, announce the signing of defenseman Nathan Lutz; per team policy, the terms of the contracts will be undisclosed.

The name Nathan Lutz is a familiar name for area hockey fans, as Lutz played for the Rockford Icehogs for four seasons, including the 2006-07 season in which Lutz was the captain of the Icehogs who won the UHL championship, under the direction of now Express Head Coach Steve Martinson.

This past season, Lutz played for the Mississippi RiverKings of the Central Hockey League, where he finished fifth among all CHL defensemen in scoring with 48 points (10 goals, 38 assists) in only 59 games played.

For his career, Lutz has played in 549 professional regular season games, scoring 266 points (76 goals, 190 assists) and also has seen action in 54 postseason games scoring 26 points (7 goals, 19 assists).

Coach Steve Martinson expects big things from Lutz. "We expect Nathan to be a leader both on and off the ice for the Express Organization. He is the perfect defenseman to build a team around, as he can play in all situations, even strength, power play, penalty kill, and also plays with an edge."

The Chicago Express will open up the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 22nd versus the Kalamazoo Wings with a 7:30 p.m. face-off at the Sears Centre Arena. This inaugural game is sure to be a must have ticket, so make sure you have your ticket for this once in a life time game!
