Published on May 6, 2010 under ECHL (ECHL) News Release
PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL announced that, as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Professional Hockey Players' Association, and with the exception of players who are part of future consideration trades from the 2009-10 season, all remaining ECHL-contracted Charlotte players are deemed unrestricted free agents, effective immediately.
The Board of Governors has approved the Charlotte Checkers petition to withdraw from the ECHL to begin play in the American Hockey League in 2010-11. Therefore, the Checkers will not be operating in the ECHL next season.
