Charleston Battery's Ben Pirmann Voted USL Championship Coach of the Month

TAMPA, Fla. - The USL Championship announced on Wednesday the Charleston Battery's Ben Pirmann had been voted as the league's Coach of the Month for March. Pirmann claimed the honor after leading the Battery to an undefeated start to the new season after his offseason appointment at the club.
The 2022 USL Championship Coach of the Year after leading Memphis 901 FC to a second-place finish in the Eastern Conference, Pirmann and his staff made an immediate impact on the Battery, which was coming off the worst season in its 30-year history last year. Charleston earned points in each of its opening two games of the season after 1-1 results at home to Phoenix Rising FC and away to Sacramento Republic FC before a 3-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Patriots Point to close out the month on March 25.
The Battery subsequently claimed victory against Hartford Athletic this past weekend. The side currently stands as the lone undefeated side in the Championship's Eastern Conference ahead of a rematch with the Rowdies on Wednesday night at Al Lang Stadium.
"I think the biggest thing for us is anytime we can bring respect and 'glory' to the Battery, we're doing our jobs," said Pirmann. "Whether it's coaches, the players, Team of the Week, Goal of the Week, Player of the Month, those types of things, anytime guys are getting awards, then we're doing things the right way.
"We've got a great staff, a great club from the Owner to the President, all the way down. So, you know, hopefully there's more there for everyone."
Pirmann earned 40 percent of the ballot to claim the award. Sacramento Republic FC Head Coach Mark Briggs finished in second place on 29 percent after leading Sacramento Republic FC to a 2-0-1 record with victories against El Paso Locomotive FC and San Diego Loyal SC to start the new campaign.
The USL Championship's Coach of the Month award is voted upon by the USL Championship National Media Panel and the USL Championship Technical Committee, with each group responsible for 50 percent of the overall vote.
