Philadelphia Charge News Release
PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 15, 2002) - The Philadelphia Charge released defender Naomi Stone on Friday, reducing the team's active roster to 22 players.
The Charge had until today to reduce the active roster to 22 players. Currently, the club has 23 players signed, but with Chinese star midfielder Zhao Lihong not in camp yet, the Charge meet the 22-player limit. When Zhao does report to camp, however, first-round draft choice Stacey Tullock is expected to returned to school, again leaving the Charge roster at 22.
Stone, who was invited to tryout as a free agent by the Charge, spent last season with the Carolina Courage. She appeared in 10 games for the Courage, starting once and recording one goal, but was then waived in the off-season.
The Charge kick off the 2002 WUSA season Saturday, April 13 in Atlanta against the Beat at 7 p.m. The club then travels to New York on Saturday, April 27 to face the Power at 7:00 before making its home debut on Saturday, May 4 against the Boston Breakers starting at 7 p.m. For season ticket information call 215-467-GOAL or log on to www.philadelphiacharge.com.
