The first-ever WUSA match at the historic Rose Bowl will also feature numerous players with Southern California ties, including the Spirit's Shannon Boxx (Huntington Beach), Rhiannon Tanaka (Anaheim), Foudy (Mission Viejo), Fawcett (Huntington Beach) and MacMillan (Escondido). The Charge feature Erin Martin (Temple City), Jenny Benson (Fountain Valley), Mandy Clemens (San Diego) and Melissa Moore (Van Nuys).
The Charge are currently tied for first place in the WUSA standings with the Carolina Courage. Both teams have 30 points, but the Charge (9-1-3) have a game in hand against the Courage (9-2-3) and hold the head-to-head tiebreaker, having already beaten Carolina twice this season. Philadelphia travels to Washington this Sunday to face the Freedom starting at 4 p.m. and then returns home for Saturday, July 20 when it will face the Courage in a battle for the top spot. Saturday will also be "Women in Sports Night" at Villanova Stadium. For Charge tickets call 215-467-GOAL.
