June 4, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release
Albany, NY (June 4, 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced that with the continued expansion for the 2007-08 season, they have reestablished their league wide scouting department with the appointment of Mark Argenziano as the Director of Scouting and Jeff Argenziano as the Director of Player Personnel for the CBA this season.
Mark joins the CBA after an extensive period with the United States Basketball League. During his time in the USBL, Mark has served as an advance scout, assistant coach, and Director of Scouting for the USBL. Argenziano previously worked for Kevin Mackey in Portland, Maine as Advanced Scout and Shooting Instructor for the Mountain Cats in 1996. From there he followed Mackey to Atlantic City, helping them to three consecutive USBL Championships (1997-1999). Argenziano has also worked as a consultant for the 1999 IBA Champion Mansfield Hawks, 1999-2000 Trenton Shooting Stars of the IBL, and the 2003 Mansfield Hawks of the UPBL along with various teams from the NBDL, CBA, and overseas. He spent 2001-2002 with the Florida Sea Dragons, where he handled all advance scouting and was in charge of the Sea Dragons draft. From the 2003 season until the present, Argenziano served as the Director of Scouting for the USBL.
Jeff began his career in the minor league basketball as the Video Coordinator and a member of the Game Day Operations Staff for the Portland Mountain Cats in 1996, coached by Kevin Mackey. His connection with Mackey continued as he assisted with Advanced and Talent Scouting for the Atlantic City Seagulls from 1997-1999. During the 2001-2002 seasons, he furthered his work with Coach Mackey as he performed Advance and Talent Scouting for the Florida Sea Dragons. From 2000-2004 Argenziano worked for the USBL as a League Scout. In 2005, Jeff was appointed to the position of USBL Director of Player Evaluation. He reported on the areas of player evaluations of both college talent and minor league veteran prospects.
"Mark and Jeff come to the league highly recommended by a number of NBA organizations," said CBA Acting Commissioner Jim Coyne. "They are both well respected and are knowledgeable scouts and talent evaluators. They will be a tool for each of our head coaches and organizations to use for the upcoming season as they prepare their rosters. I look forward to working with both to find the best talent possible for the 2007-08 season."
