ALBANY, NY (September 5, 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced that it has partnered with Global Airline Services for the 2007-08 season. Global Airline Services will handle all transportation needs of the CBA teams this season, with an emphasis on chartered air service and commercial airfare. Global Airline Services will also provide all scheduling and ground transportation for the CBA this season.
Global Airline Services, Inc. is a Fort Lauderdale-based aircraft leasing, brokerage and consulting company. It specializes in providing reliable and quality air charter services and group tickets on behalf of its clients. Global focuses on the collegiate and professional sports markets. It has served over 50 colleges over the past 10 years and has flown a number of professional basketball and hockey teams to their away games.
Global Airline Services, Inc. was organized in 1996 by Hap Pareti, the former co-founder/President of People Express/Continental Airlines, with annual revenues ranging from $5-7.5M. "This partnership with Global Airline Services is a culmination of an idea to provide the CBA with the best travel partner possible. We have done that today with Global Airline Services. Hap Pareti is a visionary who sees the value in working with the CBA and its member teams. This collaboration provides the CBA with all of its travel needs in one place," stated CBA Properties President and CEO Ricardo Richardson.
"This is a historical day for the CBA," said CBA Acting Commissioner Jim Coyne. "To be able to partner with Global Airline Services to provide low cost and affordable transportation for our teams is something we have never had in the CBA. We look forward to working with Global Airline Services this season, and for many seasons to come."
"We are extremely excited to announce this partnership today with Hap Pareti and Global Airline Services," said CBA Executive Committee President Ben Fernandez. "Our teams will now be able to travel in comfort and style at an affordable price. To be able to travel in a combination of charter and commercial flights is a benefit to all of our players and coaches. It will enable them to be able to provide the best in CBA action to all of our fans and sponsors."
"Hap Parati and Global Airline Services have gone above and beyond with this travel partnership," said CBA Executive Committee Vice President Joe Clark. "With the teams now having the opportunity to travel via charter service, this will substantially lower the travel cost for all of our franchises and give us latitude in the scheduling of arrival and departure times."
"Having Global Airline Services on board for the upcoming season is going to make things much easier for our teams," said CBA Vice President Dennis Truax. "This makes what is traditionally difficult travel for our teams uncomplicated this season. Hap Pareti and Global Airline Services have been wonderful to work with and we look forward to continuing this relationship for many years to come."
