Wizards Cruise Past Beez
The Dakota Wizards finished strong in their first two games against Fargo-Moorhead, then finished off the Beez with a convincing win in Game Three. Miles Simon, Andy Panko, and Chris Porter led a balanced Dakota attack that is now headed to the CBA Finals.
The Wizards escaped with a one point overtime victory in Game One, as the the Beez squandered a 98-95 lead in the closing minutes. Forward Kevin Rice hit a lay-up with fifteen seconds remaining to give Dakota a 99-98 win. In Game Two, Fargo-Moorhead once again held the lead in the closing moments of the game. Dakota prevailed, however, as Courtney James slammed the ball home with less than a second on the clock to steal a 108-107 victory.
Dakota defeated a tired Beez squad 113-101 in the third game to complete the series sweep. Dakota now awaits the winner of the Rockford-Sioux Falls series.
Rockford Regains the Advantage
After dropping Game One at home, the Rockford Lightning has stormed back to take a 2-1 lead in the American Conference play-off series. Sioux Falls earned a big road win at Rockford in Game One, but the Lightning came back strong to defeat the Skyforce in the next two contests.
Henry Thomas and David Harrison led Sioux Falls to a 95-87 victory in Game One as the Skyforce stole home-court advantage in the five-game series. Rockford bounced back with an important home win in Game Two, however, and knotted the series at 1-1.
In the third game, Rockford felt at home as the team took on the Skyforce in Sioux Falls. The Lightning, winners of nine consecutive road games, managed a 92-89 comeback victory to take a 2-1 series lead. Kelley McClure, Ray Weathers, Dickey Simpkins, and company look to finish off the Skyforce in Game Four. Sioux Falls must defend its home court to force a Game Five back in Rockford.
Line of the Week
Dakota forward Chris Porter turned in an outstanding performance to propel the Wizards past the Beez and into the CBA Finals.
