CBA finishes season with race for championship berth
March 24, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release
ALBANY, NY (March 24, 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association tomorrow plays the final three contests of the 2006-07 season. Amongst these games is the Albany at Indiana contest, which will determine the final participant in the 2007 CBA Playoffs.
Minot has concluding their inaugural season in the CBA with a 31-17 record, capturing 195.5 quarter points. With one game left, Albany stands with a 29-18 record, with 192.5 quarter points won. Albany needs to capture three quarter points to move onto the CBA Playoffs. The Patroons hold the first tiebreaker, most points won head-to-head 40.5 to 36.5 quarter points.
"This race to the finals by Albany and Minot just shows you that every point is important over 48 games," said CBA Director of Operations Dennis Truax. "Both Albany and Minot would be worthy opponents for Yakama, but unfortunately only one team can advance to the finals. Tomorrow's games will be very exciting and I am sure that Albany will be doing everything in their power to get three points, and Indiana will be looking to play the role of a spoiler tomorrow. Good luck to both teams."
Regardless of which team qualifies for the playoffs, the CBA Playoffs will start Tuesday, March 27 and Wednesday, March 28 in either Albany or Minot. Games 3, 4, and 5 will take place in Yakama on Friday, March 30, Sunday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 3.
